We started the day off earlier than usual to beat the rain. We woke up at 6:00 AM, ate an incredible breakfast that consisted of rice mixed with beans and veggies, scrambled eggs, plantains and of course the daily fresh juice that changes everyday.
We headed up to the bio fabrica in the back of Jonathan’s work truck. He always goes extra fast on the bumpy parts to make it fun. The day consisted of destroying the concrete walls with a jack hammer, measuring and cutting wood for the frame that will hold the water tank, and munching on the candy that karl brought. After about 4.5 hours of work we had lunch outside of a local families home.
After lunch we met up with a bunch of the local kids who are part of the young dreamers and we headed up to the soccer field. We played them in kickball and we actually ended up winning. Jonathan was the referee for the game and he made some pretty questionable calls. Then we played soccer and we managed to tie the game and take it to penalty kicks. The entire game I was slipping and sliding around because the grass was wet and I had my work shoes on. Playing games with the kids in the community was probably one of the most fun things we’ve done so far. We ended up losing in pk’s.
After playing soccer we had cafecita time which is pretty much a time we all get together between 3-4pm and drink coffee and eat some different cakes. After this we had some down time to relax and take a shower. The showers here are beautiful because they’re all glass and you get an incredible view of the mountain side. After the break we all met up and watched a 30 minute video all about consumption and the effects it has on our environment. We had a some interesting conversations about it, and it opened my eyes to all the unnecessary things I’m consuming in my day to day life. After the discussion we had dinner and then ended the night playing cards with each other.
